a custom t-shirt

[This blog has gone from a photo display to an international travel journal, to now a crafts blog?]

T has been out of town for a few days, and I have been bored (boo hoo, right? I'm gone far more often than he!), so I decided to try out a little craft project I have been eying. I follow the template here, with my own obvious twist (think I heart NY).

All you need is:

  • Template of whatever design you want
  • Xacto knife
  • Clorox Bleach Pen
  • Contact Paper
  • Old T-shirt (or in my case, new, but cheap)

Start off with a t-shirt of your choice.

Pick a template, tape it to the contact paper and cut out the design using an Xacto knife.

Stick the contact paper on your shirt.

Using the bleach pen, apply freely inside your pattern (I put a magazine inside the shirt so the bleach wouldn't soak through).

I let the bleach sit for about 5-10 minutes, then rinsed the shirt out in my sink (followed by a wash in the washer). Voila!
