donkeys and camels

I didn't realize it before I came, but donkeys are everywhere in Ethiopia, pulling carts, wandering the streets, and act as a type of public transportation. Driving south, cars swerve in and out of traffic, avoiding the heavily-loaded carts carrying this harvest's teff, the main staple of the Ethiopian diet used to make enjeera.

I also didn't know there were camels - nomadic tribes follow the camels, using them for milk, money and food. Sometimes we came across hundreds of camel, as several groups of nomads came together.
