Sewing: A Moneta for the Holidays

This post is late. By a few months. I made this dress back in June, right after I returned from South Sudan, and just in time for the Fourth of July. I didn't really think about it at the time (I just wanted to finish the dress so I could have something summery to wear at the BBQ), but on the Fourth, someone commented that my dress "looked like fireworks". I guess it was a holiday-appropriate dress!

The pattern is the Moneta dress from Colette Patterns. A great, quick and easy knit dress with a few different styles (and free collar variations!) I love the round, wide collar, with the little overlaps in the back. The bodice is lined with some extra knit I had around. And the best part of this dress? It has pockets!
I used an ITY knit that I bought on fabric dot com. I realized one day I went on a spree and bought about 5 different fabrics, left the country, and now I have no idea what I planned for them. I guess this knit was perfect for this dress - and I have some other knits I could use as well. Maybe I will make one with sleeves for the fall. Happy sewing!
