Venezia, Italia

We only spent two days at the beginning of our trip in Italy - we're waiting to do the whole Italian tour for when some friends can come (one is Italian, so we'd get the more authentic insiders tour). It was rainy most of the time, but that didn't stop us. It added such a wonderful light in the nighttime photos. We had the fortune of being there during an extreme tide, so every day around 10am, sirens would go off in the city, warning that the afternoon would carry extremely high tides. We wondered why all the locals were walking around in gum boots - until 12:00, when the canals over-flooded their band and all the streets (and some of the shops) were flooded with 5, 6, 7 inches of water! The food was phenomenal, and we had a wonderful time wandering the alleyways. I took so many pictures of windows and doors - I don't think I looked at anything else!

A Venetian wades through the flooded streets of Venice.
